Free Comic Book Day AR
In Store Augmented Reality Activation
On Free Comic Book Day 2021, we brought Taurin Clarke’s illustrations to life in augmented reality as part of a Coca-Cola activation to celebrate comic book fans. The experience, created in collaboration with CSM, went live in thousands of comic book stores across the country. Participants got to explore Taurin’s art as a series of animated comics in AR and then spin a prize wheel for a chance to win signed comic books, free coke, digital art downloads, and other exclusive prizes.
How It Worked
1. A promo video teased fans with what was coming to encourage foot traffic to their local comic book store on Free Comic Book Day.
2. Fans turned up at their local Comic Book Store and found the poster.
3. Fans scanned the poster with their phone and were treated to an augmented reality experience in their web browser (no download required) – complete with a prize wheel!
