Augmented Reality Storytelling

Working with the Tūhourangi Tribal Authority and artist Te Mauri Kingi, we co-designed and animated an augmented reality production of the story of Ngatoroirangi .

Visitors to the Whakarewarewa Forest can scan a physical sign with their phones to trigger the animation, which is available in both Maori and English. The app brings an image on the sign to life, animating each cell and providing narration and sound effects to complement the graphic illustrations.
